PSC is currently seeking applicants for the following position: Consultant for Education and Public Finance
Full‐time employment; exempt from overtime (administrative exemption)
Job Summary: Research, analyze, and write reports on community, state, and national education and public finance policy issues for clients. Collect and analyze large data sets. Assist in program evaluation, survey research, and facilitation of stakeholder and focus groups.
Qualifications for the Job (listed in order of importance):
Research and writing skills. The applicant must be a thorough researcher and a very good writer with an interest in education and public finance policy. This consultant must be able to write clearly and accurately interpret data.
Analytic skills. The applicant must be comfortable with math, data analysis, and working with large data sets. Policy analysts with sound math/quantitative backgrounds are most likely to be a fit for this position. Strong Excel skills are essential. Experience with statistical software/analytics packages (such as SPSS, STATA, Tableau) is preferred.
Knowledge in public policy. The position requires a sound understanding of public policy and policy analysis. Knowledge of and interest in education and public finance topics is important.
Ability to develop strong working relationships with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders. The consultant must have the ability to foster relationships with colleagues across divisions at PSC, leaders in the public and private sectors, and a range of clients.
Vision and creativity. Applicants should be able to generate creative ideas for moving the division in exciting new directions.
Other Skills Required to Perform the Essential Duties of the Job:
- Ability to work collaboratively with employees at all levels of the organization. Ability to manage multiple tasks and expectations at one time.
- Ability to complete tasks in a timely and professional manner.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and Excel.
Educational Requirements Needed to Perform the Duties of the Job:
Bachelor’s degree in education or a policy related field. Must have demonstrated research experience and strong quantitative skills.
Physical Abilities to Perform the Essential Duties of the Job:
- Ability to sit for long periods of time, spend varying amounts of time in front of a computer screen, and move about office areas as required.
- Visual and hearing abilities, as well as manual dexterity, to operate a computer, copier, printer, phone, and various other office equipment.
Salary range is $35,000 to $45,000 and commensurate with experience. Position includes a competitive benefits package.
