Derrell worked his first political campaign in 2012, and from that moment, he has loved bringing people together to accomplish big goals. Behind the curtain of the campaign scene, he developed a talent for motivating people and building consensus, actively listening to community members as they talked about issues in their everyday lives that affected the world around them. As his experience in the political world grew, so did Derrell’s desire to tackle problems of magnitude all over Michigan, which led him to a position at PSC.

As a consultant with the energy and environment team at PSC, Derrell focuses his efforts within the firm’s energy discipline, using his affinity for all things political to research the latest national trends in state and federal utility regulatory policy. He also analyzes emerging energy usage policies and provides strategic counsel on a variety of public policy and regulatory topics.

Before joining PSC, Derrell served as a legislative staffer for the Michigan House of Representatives. He also spent time with the Michigan Public Service Commission, where he played an integral role in the commission’s implementation efforts of Michigan’s most recent energy laws, Public Acts 341 and 342 of 2016.
