For as long as she can remember, Martha cajoled her friends to help her build things. Whether a fort on the shorelines of Lake Superior, or a deep energy retrofit company, she has always loved imagining what could be and collaborating with others to make it a reality. Today, Martha excels at helping others envision a more sustainable future and assembling the resources needed to make those ideas a reality.
Drawing on her innovative, can-do spirit, Martha brings over two decades of combined experience in finance, community organizing, and building decarbonization to Michigan Saves. In her role as the chief program officer, she works with her team to design, implement, and maintain comprehensive programmatic strategies that promote access to renewable energy, energy efficiency, and sustainable financing solutions, leveraging technical assistance and strategic partnerships.
Prior to joining Michigan Saves, Martha was honored to serve as a senior climate policy advisor to Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. Prior to the Whitmer administration, Martha led RMI’s multifamily buildings initiative for nearly a decade, overseeing a comprehensive strategy to scale deep energy retrofits in multifamily housing in the U.S. Her work included cofounding REALIZE and the Advanced Building Construction Collaborative, partnerships with the U.S. Department of Energy and national laboratories to seed and demonstrate technologies that greatly increase the speed of construction while improving the performance of new and existing buildings. Prior to RMI, her experiences included working at Goldman Sachs as an equities program trader and community organizing in northern New Mexico.
