LANSING, Mich. – Public Sector Consultants (PSC) has named Julie Metty Bennett and Rachel Kuntzsch as the institution’s new CEO and president. For the first time in its history, the 40-year-old nonpartisan public policy research consultancy is now a 100 percent women-owned business.

“I am humbled and honored to continue to serve this incredible firm from this capacity alongside Rachel,” said Metty Bennett. “From the moment I became an equity partner in 2012, the shareholder team planned for this particular transition, which included the identification of a copilot.”

Metty Bennett, who has been with PSC for nearly 20 years, is a leading voice in water, environmental, land-use and energy policy. She is also an expert nonprofit technician, having long managed two multimillion-dollar nonprofits housed by PSC — Michigan Saves, the nation’s first nonprofit green bank, as well as the Great Lakes Fishery Trust, which provides funding to enhance, protect and rehabilitate Great Lakes fishery resources.

Kuntzsch brings a depth of experience in economic development, including catalyzing entrepreneurial programs in areas such as medical innovation and advanced mobility. Having founded and led her own longstanding public policy consultancy, Kuntzsch Solutions, her leadership is grounded in that experience. The two companies merged three years ago, and the harmonious relationship has proven incredibly fortunate for all affected.

Combined, Metty Bennett and Kuntzsch have more than 22 years of successful business ownership and nearly 30 years of executive management experience.

“Julie and I traveled in similar circles for a decade before becoming business partners in 2016. We complement each other well, bringing a depth of business leadership experience, public policy expertise and a shared commitment to the special culture at PSC,” said Kuntzsch. “Together, with our exceptional team of more than 60 staff, we’ll continue in our service-based work for the benefit of all residents.”

With Kuntzsch and Metty Bennett at the helm, plans for PSC, widely known for its nonpartisan values and objective research, remain strongly rooted in the company mission — improving the quality of life for residents of Michigan and beyond through the development and implementation of innovative, actionable public policies.

“What we do is vast and deep, but always intentional and focused on our mission. Rachel and Julie embody that sentiment,” said Selma Tucker, vice president of PSC’s marketing and communications practice.
