Joel Howrani Heeres Director, Community Resilience

LANSING, Mich. – Joel Howrani Heeres has been selected as a member of the 44th class of Leadership Detroit, the Detroit Chamber’s nine-month transformational leadership program designed to challenge emerging and existing community leaders from Southeast Michigan to bring about positive change.

As part of Leadership Detroit 44, Howrani Heeres will join a class representing a cross-section of the community, including business, organized labor, government, education, media, civic groups, health services and community organizations.

“It’s a big honor to be part of the latest class of Leadership Detroit and join other highly regarded professionals who share my passion for making an impact in the region,” said Howrani Heeres, director of community resilience at Public Sector Consultants. “This is a meaningful opportunity to learn and grow alongside people across Southeast Michigan and gain insight into the most pressing issues facing the city.”

Howrani Heeres led the City of Detroit’s first Office of Sustainability and is an established presence in the region. He brings a strong background in developing implementable frameworks for organizational transformation to the 2023 cohort and a contagious energy for helping communities plan for a more livable, resilient and low-carbon future.
