Dan Lord, Director of Environment and Natural Resources

Lansing, Mich. — Public Sector Consultants is pleased to announce that Dan Lord is joining the firm as the director of environment and natural resources. As part of his position, he will also serve as the manager of the Great Lakes Fishery Trust.

“Dan has always been passionate about protecting Michigan’s environment and enhancing our communities, plus he has a strong track record of leveraging funding and expanding partner relationships to benefit communities across Michigan,” said Julie Metty Bennett, CEO at PSC. “His arrival couldn’t come at a better time as we help clients navigate urgent policy challenges, from infrastructure modernization to long-term environmental sustainability.”

A proven leader in environmental affairs, Lord joins PSC after serving as the division chief for the Finance and Operations Division of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. His extensive career at the DNR spans a range of critical state issues, including serving as the department’s liaison to the governor-appointed Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund Board and directing department-wide budgets and federal funding. He was instrumental in establishing the statewide Michigan Spark Grant program to equitably develop public spaces after COVID-19 and he served as a primary implementation lead for transitioning Detroit’s Belle Isle Park into a state park. He has also coordinated major investments to expand public access along the Detroit riverfront.

“Dan knows how to look at complex situations and design practical solutions where traditional models fall short,” said Maggie Pallone, senior vice president at PSC. “He has built strong, trusted relationships across Michigan’s environmental, natural resource, and recreational stakeholder networks and is known for aligning differing perspectives and finding collaborative ways to solve public policy challenges.”

Lord brings more than 20 years of experience shaping Michigan’s public land, infrastructure and recreational programs to his new role at PSC, coupled with expertise in strategic budgeting, grant administration, and natural resource policy that will be an asset to the Fishery Trust and other clients.

“I’m looking forward to working alongside PSC’s clients and collaborators to deliver actionable, science-backed solutions to manage our state’s land, water and environmental infrastructure responsibly,” said Lord.
