The MYalliance Evaluation Team monitors out-of-home placements and juvenile detention stays data as ashort-term indicator of community functioning. The Muskegon County Family Court (family court) and theMichigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) both have the authority to remove youth fromtheir homes and place them in another setting. The majority of MDHHS placements are into either a relative’shome or foster care, while nearly all family court placements are in a residential facility.The following data from family court and MDHHS on out-of-home placements and juvenile detention staysamong Muskegon County youth have been updated to include 2023 information. The data presented in thisreport show the number of youth in placement by agency type and setting.
